About us and embodied carbon

Carbon Leadership Forum (CLF)

The Carbon Leadership Forum is a group originating from the University of Washington focused on accelerating the transformation of the building sector to radically reduce and ultimately eliminate the embodied carbon footprint of building materials and construction. The group is pioneering research, creating resources, and incubating member-led initiatives around this shared goal. The group comprises of architects, engineers, contractors, material suppliers, building owners, and policymakers who care about the future and work collaboratively taking bold steps together for the greatest collective impact.

CLF Pittsburgh

The Embodied Carbon Network was initially an online community administered by the CLF with the aim of promoting broader discussions and education around embodied carbon worldwide. While the wider CLF Community functions as a world-wide, virtual knowledge-sharing platform, there has also been an increased interest in local CLF groups that would bring people together for in-person discussions, events, and support on-the-ground initiatives most relevant to each region. The Pittsburgh group was started in 2021 and aims to bring together like-minded people in the Western Pennsylvania region. Local volunteers run this group and are always looking for help - if you would like to help out with planning, organizing or sponsoring events, please reach out
